The Centre has set the target of providing 24X7 power supply to every household by 2019. Union Power Minister Piyush Goyal informed this at the Power ministers conference in Guwahati Thursday .
He said during the meeting they discussed on different issues regarding the implementation of Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojna. Union Power Secretary P K Sinha said that 20 thousand un-electrified villages will be covered under the scheme.
Goyal said his Ministry will set up 5 cancer hospitals and also work to eliminate manual scavenging under the Corporate Social Responsibility initiative apart from setting up 1 lakh 25 thousand toilet in schools across the country.
The conference has also discussed on expediting transmission works and Green Energy Corridor. Official sources said that issues including proposed amendments in tariff policy, steps on electrification in every household, among others will be discussed today. The two-day long conference will conclude today.
