4 Congress leaders join BJP in Uttarakhand

24 January, Dehradun

Uttarakhand Congress Tuesday received a big jolt when its four senior leaders joined the BJP before the February 15 Assembly elections.

The leaders who joined the rival camp are state Cabinet Minister and Congress general secretary Santosh Kashyap, former general secretary Bhagat Ram Kothari, party’s Backward Classes Cell president Chandrasekhar Kashyap and state committee secretary Haji Dilshad Ahmed Qureshi.

They joined the BJP in the presence of its national vice-president Shyam Jeju and former Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna.

After the joining, Mr Kashyap said a ticket from Haridwar rural should be given to its native but Chief Minister Harish Rawat seized it himself by deceiving the backward class. He said the community will teach him a befitting lesson in the assembly polls.
