Delhi AAP government’s compensation scheme for the ryots will be called ‘Gajendra Singh Kisan Sahayta Yojana (GSKSY)’.
Delhi Cabinet Friday approved the distribution of cheques under the GSKSY to farmers of Delhi from May 8 onwards, whose crop has been destroyed by the recent unseasonal rains.
The Cabinet, in its meeting chaired by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, also approved the formula for payment of compensation to the peasants.It has been decided that based on official assessment, farmers whose complete crop has been destroyed will be paid Rs 20,000 per acre. (In cases whre crop loss is 70 per cent and above).
In cases where the crop loss is below 70 per cent, the ryots will get a minimum compensation of Rs 14,000 per acre.It has also been decided that any dispute arising between the government officials and farmers on the quantum of crop loss will be resolved in the respective gram Sabha, nearest to the land of the affected peasants.The compensation scheme is for farmers and corporate entities owning land in Delhi will not get the benefit of this scheme, sources said.
