With actor Kamal Haasan set to embark on a tour of Tamil Nadu from February 21 as part of his political journey, reports said that his best friend and Superstar Rajinikanth too has firmed up his political plans. The actor had on New year eve said his political entry was confirmed and that he would contest all the 234 Assembly seats in the next poll due in 2021.
Rajinikanth was set for a visit across the State from March-April to meet the people and understand their problems and needs.
Sources said that the decision to meet people by touring the state was firmed up after a meeting Rajinikanth had with activist Tamilaruvi Manian at the former’s Poes Garden residence on Thursday. Weeks after Rajinikanth announced his political foray, he has been taking measures to appoint office-bearers for his Makkal Mandram across the State. In continuation of this, today he came out with a list of office-bearers for Tuticorin district. It also included names for Tiruchendur, Kovilpatti, Ottapidaram and Sri Vaikuntam among others.
Several meetings are being held at various places across the State by the members of his association on their future course of action and political policies to be framed.
Rajinikanth had been repeatedly stating that the system in the State has become worse and there was an urgent need to set things right. Speaking at an event recently, Rajinikanth said ”Tamil Nadu has historically been a place of major political events, including Mahatma Gandhiji discarding his attire and opting for only a loin cloth.””I too want to create a political revolution. If there is a change now, future generations will live better”, he said.
He also announced an online membership drive to register fans and those who were interested to join his mandram. Members of his association were also reaching out to general public with application forms.
