All England Open 2018: Sindhu, Prannoy in quarters, Srikanth bows out

It was a mixed day for Indian shuttlers at the ongoing All England Championships on Thursday as star women shuttler PV Sindhu, HS Prannoy advanced to the quarters, but Kidambi Srikanth bowed out of the tourney.

Also, the Indian pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty suffered defeats in their respective second round matches.

In the more than one hour-long battle, Sindhu edged past Nitchaon Jindapol of Thailand 21-13, 13-21, 21-18.

Later in the day, Prannoy thumped Indonesia’s Tommy Sugiarto 21-10, 21-19.

However, Srikanth suffered a 11-21, 21-15, 20-22 loss against Huang Yuxiang of China.

In men’s doubles, Rankireddy and Shetty went down fighting to the second-seeded pair of Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen, losing the issue 16-21, 21-16, 21-23. In the he mixed doubles event, Indian pair of Pranaav Jerry Chopra and Sikki Reddy were handed a 10-21, 6-21 defeat by Wang Yilhu and Huang Dongping.
