In the more than one hour-long battle, Sindhu edged past Nitchaon Jindapol of Thailand 21-13, 13-21, 21-18.
Later in the day, Prannoy thumped Indonesia’s Tommy Sugiarto 21-10, 21-19.
However, Srikanth suffered a 11-21, 21-15, 20-22 loss against Huang Yuxiang of China.
In men’s doubles, Rankireddy and Shetty went down fighting to the second-seeded pair of Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen, losing the issue 16-21, 21-16, 21-23. In the he mixed doubles event, Indian pair of Pranaav Jerry Chopra and Sikki Reddy were handed a 10-21, 6-21 defeat by Wang Yilhu and Huang Dongping.
