Minister for Ayush Shripad Yesso Naik Tuesday told the Rajya Sabha that anAll India Institute of Ayurveda is going to be set up shortly but admitted that the slow progress was due to statutory clearances.
In a written reply, Naik said the Institute was at an advanced stage of completion.
The construction of the building was almost complete, he said.
Naik said the Outpatient Department (OPD) is working with nine Ayurveda specialties.
The Minister said basic medical equipment, machinery and all allied services have been procured.
The government had approved an amount of Rs 134 crore for the project but later on it was revised to Rs 157 crore in March, 2013.
The progress of the project was being reviewed from time to time with the agencies concerned in the Project Management Committee meeting, he said.
“The slow progress is due to delay in obtaining statutory clearances from local bodies,” Naik said.
