Amit Shah arrives in Bhubaneswar ahead of BJP’s national executive meeting

BJP national president Amit Shah was today accorded a warm welcome by the party leaders and supporters who thronged to the Biju Patnaik International airport in large numbers.

Union Petroleum and Natural Gas minister Dharmnendra Pradhan, BJP state unit President Basdant Panda and BJP legislature party leader K V Singdeo garlanded him with lotus at the airport from where he went to A G Square to garland the statue of Dr B R Ambedkar amid tight security.

Hundreds of BJP activists escorted him in a massive motorcycle procession from the Airport to AG Square and then to a city hotel where he will spend some time and then proceed to the party office to celebrate the Odia new year with party leaders and workers.

In the evening, Mr Shah will have a closed door meeting with the state party leaders and discuss the strategy of Mission 2019 for coming to power in Odisha. Meanwhile, Janata Maidan, the venue of the BJP’s national executive meeting, has been named after a revolutionary and famous Saint Poet Bhima Bhoi.

Pradhan, who inaugurated the media cell for the two-day national executive meeting, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi will reach Bhubaneswar airport tomorrow at 1530 hrs.

Modi, he said, will proceed to Raj Bhawan from the Biju Patnaik international airport where he will spend some time before leaving Janata Maidan to attend the national executive body meeting. Pradhan said Union External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj will not be able to attend the national executive due to her health condition.
