BJP has outrightly rejected the allegations levelled in an article published by a website against party President Amit Shah’s son claiming that the turnover of a company owned by him has increased in an unprecedented manner.
The party termed the charges as baseless, defamatory and mischievous and said it is aimed at damaging the reputation of Amit Shah.
Briefing reporters in New Delhi, party leader and Union Minister Piyush Goyal said Mr Shah’s son, Jay Shah has been carrying on fully legitimate business and all transactions are transparent and loans taken by him were in accordance with the rule and were paid back in full with interest.
He said, using the figure of 16 thousand-fold increase in the turnover of the company is just an attempt to sensationalize the matter as it is a normal growth in commodity business.
Mr. Goyal said Jay Shah will file criminal and civil defamation suits of 100 crore rupees against the author of the article, editor and owner of the news website. He also criticized the Congress for targeting the BJP over the issue and said the opposition party should tell the people about its party president’s family members’ business.
Earlier, the Congress had questioned the BJP over the issue. Senior party leader, Kapil Sibbal said that the government must uphold the rule of law and investigate the charges through the ED and CBI.
Citing the firm’s financial reports filed with the Registrar of Companies, the article has said Jay Shah’s company’s turnover increased in an unprecedented manner in recent years.
