Army provides self defence training to 58 girls of Rajouri

As many as 58 girls were provided self defence training by the Army in four-week long camp organised at bordering village in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.

“The Army has initiated a four-week long self-defence cadre for girl students from the border district of Nowshera in which a total of 58 girl students in the age group of 11 to 14 years participated in the course aiming to developing self-confidence apart from making them physically robust and psychologically empowered,” defence spokesperson here said.

He said the cadre which is being conducted at Government Middle School, Gagrote will focus on physical training and mechanics of self-defence for girls.”The training is being conducted by an Army soldier, who is a qualified Black belt in Judo,” he added and said that the course will not only enable the girl students to master the art of hand-to-hand combat and various techniques of martial arts but also inculcate in them a fighting spirit and the ability to face challenging times with courage.

This is not the first time that the forces have come together to empower women on their safety, the Army has conducted similar cadres for the girl students earlier which met with an emphatic response, said the spokesperson.
