The Assam government has proposed to make girls education free upto the university level.
Talking to newspersons in Guwahati Sunday, State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, the draft population policy has suggested the proposal to make education system accessible.
He said, the policy also proposes to implement two child norms for getting government jobs. Mr Sarma said, the minimum age for marriage must be followed for getting benefits of government employment generation schemes.
He said, the two child norms will also be followed for aspiring candidates of gram panchayat and municipality board.
The Minister also said, the policy proposes strict measures to prevent child marriage. He said, State Population Resource Centre will be set up in the state as per the proposal.
