Australian Open 2017: Rafael Nadal, Serena Williams, Milos Raonic power into 2nd round

In Australian Open Tennis, the first Grand Slam of the season, top-shot players like world number two Serena Williams, Rafael Nadal, Milos Raonic and Karolina Pliskova today advanced to the Singles second round.

While Serena got the better of Swiss Belinda Bencic, 6-4, 6-3, Plisbova saw off Spain’s Sara Tormo, 6-2, 6-0. Dominika Cibulkova and Caroline Wozniacki also made it to the second round.

In Men’s Singles, ninth seed Nadal defeated Florian Mayer, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4, while third placed Raonic beat Dustin Brown, 6-3, 6-4, 6-2. World number one Andy Murray, Angelique Kerber, Roger Federer, Garbine Muguruza and Stanislas Wawrinka have already progressed to Round-2.

The Doubles, featuring a number of Indian players, are yet to be played.
