BJP Member Udit Raj today demanded impeachment of the Gujarat High Court judge who had reportedly remarked that corruption and reservation were the two problems impeding progress of the country.
He also demanded that implementation of the reservations through executive order should end and a legislation be passed for putting the quota provisions into force.
Raising the issue during Zero Hour in the Lok Sabha, Dr Udit Raj also attacked the Supreme Court for striking down the National Judicial Appointments Commission Act, saying that ”there was a third House which is unelected.”
The Member said it was unfortunate that the Judge, by describing corruption and reservation as obstacles to the progress of the country had equated the evil of corruption to a right that had been given by the Constitution.
He said impeachment proceedings should be initiated against the judge.
Dr Udit Raj demanded that the reservation Bill that had once been introduced in the Rajya Sabha but later withdrawn because of some anomalies should be reintroduced in an amended form.
