Both the House of parliament adjourned for the day after President’s Address

Both the Houses of Parliament were adjourned for the day after tabling of a copy of President’s Address to the Joint Session of members in the Central Hall.

In the Lok Sabha, Ms Mamata Thakur of Trinamool Congress took oath of office on the opening day of the Budget Session. Later, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan made obituary references to four of its former members.

In the Rajya Sabha, Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad took oath of office as Leader of Opposition. Chairman Mohammed Hamid Ansari made obituary references to six former members and a sitting member Mrs Manorama D. Sharma. The House also remembered the legendary cartoonist R K Laxman.

Both the Houses also condoled the demise of the King of Saudia Arabia Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud.
