In Andhra Pradesh, the Police have told the High Court Wednesday that a FIR has been filed against Special Task Force police party on charges of murder and abduction in connection with the killing of 20 people in police firing in Chittoor district.
The AP High Court has ordered for post-mortem and inquest reports to be submitted to the Court immediately.
The State government has informed the Court that a special investigating team (SIT) has been constituted for conducting the inquiry.
The High court has asked the details of the members comprising the SIT to be provided to the Court. Police officials stated that a joint operation was launched with the help of forest officials in Seshachalam forest near Tirupati where the Red Sanders Anti-Smuggling Task Force (RSASTF) and forest officials intercepted the alleged smugglers inside the forest area.
Several political parties questioned the police action claiming that the Andhra Pradesh STF killed labourers and not red sanders smugglers.
Meanwhile, an FIR was filed by one of the deceased person Sasikumar’s wife, who also appealed for a re-post mortem. The issue will be taken up in the Court on Thursday.
