The deep depression formed over east central bay of Bengal and likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm will have little impact in Odisha, Met sources here Sunday said.
Local Met office Director S C Sahu said the depression formed over east-central Bay of Bengal yesterday has been intensified into a deep depression this morning and lay centred over east-central Bay of Bengal, about 950-km east-south-east of Gopalpur.
The system is most likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm during next 24 hours and move towards north-east and reach close to North Myanmar coast by this evening. The cyclonic storm named as Kyant will re-curve towards north-west of Myanmar coast and then proceed towards north-west Bay of Bengal.
Sahu said the deep depression will have less effect on Odisha. There will be sporadic rainfall in 11 districts in central and north Odisha on October 26 and 27 and the remaining parts of Odisha would remain dry with cloudy weather.
Meanwhile, the authority today hoisted Distant Cautionary Signal Number One (DC-I) at all ports in Odisha as a precautionary measures and advised the fishermen to be cautious while venturing into the sea during the next 48 hours.
