The Death toll due to the cyclonic storm in Bihar has gone up to 65 while over 2,000 people have been injured.
The maximum number of 42 deaths were reported from Purnia. Deaths were also reported from Madhepura, Madhubani, Katihar, Sitamarhi, Darbhanga and Supaul. Over 4,000 animals also perished due to the cyclone.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar made an aerial survey of the affected areas Wednesday to assess the situation and the extent of damage.
According to official sources, relief and rescue operations have been stepped up in the cyclonic affected areas of the state.
