The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Friday announced the schedule for the upcoming England’s tour of India, scheduled to start from November this year.
England will play a five-match Test series followed by three One-Day Internationals and three T20 Internationals, BCCI said in a official statement.The opening Test of the series will be held in Rajkot from November 9. The ODI rubber starts in Pune on January 15, 2017. The T20I series begins in Kanpur on January 26. The tests are scheduled to be played from November 9 to December 20 at Rajkot, Vizag, Mohali, Mumbai and Chennai while the ODI series will be played from January 15- 22 at Pune, Cuttack and Kolkata.
The three match T20Is will be payed on Kanpur, Nagpur and Bengaluru between January 26 to February 1.
Speaking on the proposed tour, Head coach Anil Kumble said,”I have been involved in many challenges against England as a player. But this is for the first time when I’ll be involved in a 5-Test match series as a coach. I’m really looking forward to it.”
Kohli, who was also present with Kumble in a video posted by the BCCI on social media just after the announcement of the schedule, said, “Exactly, my views are also the same. This is going to be a competitive series. Both sides like to play hard-fought cricket and England is one of the best sides in the world. So we can expect really high quality cricket even though we are playing at home.”
