In the IPL match at the Eden Garden here Saturday the smashing 96 runs off 56 balls by Chrish Gayle powered Royal Challengers Bangalore victory in their first league encounter over Kolkata Knight Riders by 3 wickets.
Chasing modest 178 set by KKR , though the RCB were under pressure for losing wickes at regular intervals , the destructive but entertaining batsman Gayles belligerent knock helped tor achieve the target in 19 overs losing seven wickes..
Gayle was the Man Of the Match . Gayle was unfortunately run out four short of his ton.
For RCB, AB de Villiers made 28 runs and Captain Virat Kohli scored only 13 .
KKRs Yushuf Pathan had taken two wickets wile Morne Morkel, Kishaan Cariapa and Shakib Al Hassan took one wicket each
Asked to bat first , defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) amassed 177/6 in their second home match of the season against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)..
KKR skipper Gautam Gambhir top scored with 58 from 46 balls, while his opening partner Robin Uthappa contributed 35 from 28 deliveries. West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell played a cameo later to remain not out on 41 from 17 balls.
Harshal Patel, Abu Nechim, Varun Aaron and Yuzvendra Chahal picked up a wicket each for RCB at the Eden Gardens.
