A high level committee comprising of chief engineer, designs and chief engineer roads will probe into the yesterday’s collapse of under construction fly over on the Cuttack-Puri road in the city, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik told the Odisha Assembly.
Making a statement, as directed by Speaker P K Amat, Patnaik said the committee will submit a report within a week. One person was killed and ten others were injured when a span of the under construction fly over collapsed yesterday afternoon.
The Chief Minister’s statement was marred by slogan shouting opposition Congress and BJP members who trooped into the well of the house demanding his resignation and a CBI inquiry into the incident, Patnaik said his government would ensure that exemplary action is taken against all persons responsible for the tragic incident. An UD case has been registered and enquiry is going on, he said adding that a case u/s 304,337/338/34IPC has been registered against Panda Infra Project (India) Private Limited, deputy executive engineer Bansidhar Praharaj and assistant engineer Kishore Kumar Rout.
Both Praharaj and Rout have been placed under suspension. Further, the concerned executive engineer Dukhabandhi Behera has also been suspended for the prima facie lapses.
Patnaik said assistance of Rs 5 lakh has been sanctioned in favour of the bereaved family of Late Satyabrata Patanaik who lost his life in the tragic incident. The government will bear the entire expenses for treatment of the injured persons. The condition of the injured persons is stable, he said.
