Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh held a meeting with senior officials in New Delhi and reviewed the situation in the Kashmir valley.
Home Minister also spoke to Congress President Sonia Gandhi over the tense situation in Kashmir. Mr. Singh also had a telephonic conversation with former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah over the issue.
Sources said, during the conversation with them, the Home Minister discussed the efforts to bring back peace and normalcy in the Valley. His discussions with the two leaders are believed to be an attempt by the central government to take opposition leaders into confidence.
Singh has already spoken to Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and assured her all central assistance to tackle the violent protests.
