With inputs of Honeypreet Insaan, close aide and alleged adopted daughter of jailed Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim, slipping to Nepal through Lakhimpur Kheri, a police team from Haryana visited Indo-Nepal border at Gauriphanta Tuesday.
Haryana police already issued a `lookout’ notice for Honeypreet and teams were formed to arrest her along with other accused. Sources said that with inputs from the Intelligence Bureau that a SUV having registration plate of Haryana was spotted abandoned on Indo-Nepal Border at Gauriphanta, just adjacent to Lakhimpur Kheri, a team of Haryana police reached the district and went to border to enquire the matter.
Sources maintained that Haryana police enquired from the Nepal Police and also from cops of Shashastra Seema Bal (SSB) deployed on outpost at Gauriphanta border, about Honeypreet slipping into Nepal, but failed to get any further clue. The Haryana police camped on the border till the afternoon. They left back for Haryana but had reportedly sought help from the border police force of the two countries to provide them any further input about so that necessary action could be taken to lay a trap on the accused.
Honeypreet, who is in her thirties, is the adopted daughter of Ram Rahim whose conviction in a rape case triggered mob violence that killed 36 people across Haryana. She had accompanied the Dera head when he was brought to the special CBI court in Panchkula for the pronouncement of the verdict in 15-year-old rape case. She also travelled along with him in a special chopper which ferried them to Rohtak from Panchkula after the conviction.
