South Africa registers a thumping 201 runs victory over Ireland in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.
In a Pool B encounter at Canberra, chasing a mammoth total of 412 Ireland was bowled out at 210 in 45 overs. Ireland had a positive start to the chase but it was short lived as the opening bowling pair of Dale Steyn and Kyle Abbott reduced Ireland to 48 for 5.
Soon after that it became a one side affair. Andy Balbirnie’s fighting 58 and Kevin O Brien’s knock of 48 provided some resistance and delayed the inevitable. For South Africa Kyle Abbott was the most successful bowler as he took 4 for 21.
Earlier in the morning South Africa won the toss and elected to bat first. Centuries from Hashim Amla and Faf Du Plessis enabled them to post a huge total of 411 for 4 in 50 overs. With this victory at Canberra South Africa has been placed second in the Pools table behind India.
Though South Africa have equaling 6 point with India but because of better run rate India is at the top of the table.
