ICC World T20 2016 Will Be Bigger: Thakur

BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur Friday said the ICC World T20 2016, slated to be held in India from March 11 to April 3, will be more entertaining than the previous editions. The World T20 will be bigger and more entertaining this time, Thakur said after the launch of the ICC World T20 logo here.

Having learnt from IPL and other leagues, India is ready to host the ICC World T20 2016. We will ensure everyone gets to experience the best of India, he added.

India, which won the inaugural edition in South Africa in 2007, will open its campaign against New Zealand on March 15 in Nagpur before the high voltage clash against arch-rivals Pakistan on March 19 in Dharamshala.

In its meeting in Dubai on January 28, the International Cricket Council (ICC) chose India as the sole host and would be played across eight venues around the nation, with the final set to be hosted at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata on April 3.
The semi-finals will be hosted in New Delhi and Mumbai on March 30 and 31 respectively.

Apart from Mumbai, New Delhi and Kolkata, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the names of the other venues which includes Bengaluru, Chennai, Dharamshala, Mohali and Nagpur.
Sri Lanka are the defending champions, who won the previous 2014 edition in Bangladesh, beating India in the final.
