Improved connectivity, infrastructure development to help countries in South Asia: Jaitley

Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley Monday said, improved connectivity and infrastructure development in South Asia would help all the countries in the region.

He was addressing the South Asia Subregional Economic Cooperation (SASEC) Finance Ministers’ meeting in New Delhi.

Mr Jaitley welcomed Myanmar as newest member to join SASEC. He said, Myanmar will play a key role in linking South Asia with Southeast and East Asia.

The meeting is being attended by the seven Finance Ministers from Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal and Sri Lanka.

SASEC Vision for the economic growth of the sub-region was also launched on the occasion by the Finance Ministers and Heads of delegation of member countries.

The event is a unique opportunity for the member countries to discuss and exchange ideas and strive to foster better cooperation in the sub-region.
