India 319/4 at stumps in reply to England’s score of 537

India fought back well against England on Day 3 of the first test in Rajkot Friday. At stumps, the hosts were 319 for 4 in their first innings in reply to England’s score of 537. India are now 218 runs behind England with 6 wickets remaining.

Murali Vijay and Cheteshwar Pujara led India’s response to England’s massive total. The duo were involved in a 209-run stand for the second wicket.

Opener Murali Vijay ended his one year wait for a ton as he scored 126. This was his seventh Test century. Cheteswar Pujara scored 124, his ninth Test century.

Earlier, England got overnight opener Gautam Gambhir with the 7th ball of the day with individual score of 29 and after tea, Pujara , Murali Vijay and Amit Mishra were out.

Skipper Virat Kohli remained unbeaten with 26. This is the first match of the 5 match series. It will be followed by 3 ODIs and 3 T-20 matches.
