Abducted social worker Judith D’ Souza, who was kidnapped in Kabul last month, has returned safely to India.
She arrived in Delhi this evening. Hailing from Kolkata, Judith who works for an International NGO Aga Khan foundation, was kidnapped by suspected militants in Kabul on the 9th of the last month.
The family of Judith has expressed gratitude to the Indian government. Her family had written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging him to do his utmost to secure her release. Modi had requested Afghan President Ashraf Ghani to expedite the efforts to rescue Judith.
Later, Judith also called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi this evening.
Later in a tweet, Modi thanked the Government of Afghanistan, especially President Ashraf Ghani for their cooperation in bringing Judith home.
