The Indian team for the limited overs tour to Australia starting January 6, will likely be announced on Saturday, according to reports.
The selection committee headed by BCCI chief selector Sandeep Patil will name the team for the five ODIs and three T20 internationals to be played between the two sides.
The tour will be Indias first assignment in the new year since the series against South Africa on home soil. The men-in-blue lost the T20I and ODI legs of the tour 0-2 and 2-3, before the Proteas were handed a 3-0 thrashing in the four-match Test series that followed.
India last toured Down Under around the same time last year to play a four-match Test series, in which Australia regained the Border-Gavaskar trophy with a 2-0 victory.
During the tour, Mahendra Singh Dhoni suddenly announced his retirement from the longer version of the game paving the way for Virat Kohli to take the reins of the side.
Despite the thrashing at the hands of South Africa in the limited overs leg on home soil, Dhoni is most likely to be retained skipper of the side, considering the upcoming T20 World Cup in March-April.
As part of the preparations for the forthcoming World T20, Cricket Australia today appointed former India all-rounder Sridharan Sriram as mentor of the national side.
