Inter-Ministerial Team Reaches Kathmandu To Coordinate Rescue , Relief Operation

Home Minister Rajnath Singh Monday said more than 2500 Indians have been evacuated from quake-hit Nepal so far.

Making a statement in the Lok Sabha, the Home Minister said, efforts are also on to evacuate more people by road.

Immigration facilities have been set up at some places to give visa to foreigners trapped in the Himalayan nation.

He also informed the House that a high level Inter-Ministerial team headed by Additional Secretary (Home) is already in Nepal to coordinate the activities of different agencies involved in relief and rescue operations there. The team is equipped with 250 very high frequency and 50 high frequency wireless sets.

Singh said, the disaster has also claimed 72 lives in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Rajasthan and left 280 injured. The Centre is in constant touch with the states affected by the natural calamity and NDMA is continuously assessing the situation.
