Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley Thursday hit out at senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinha, without naming him, over his criticism of current state of economy and asserted the economic discipline is a priority for the government and it has taken bold and decisive steps.
Addressing a book release function in New Delhi, Jaitley said India is continued to be the fastest growing economy in the last three years.
He said, the direct tax figures are 15.7 percent over and above last year’s figure has not even impacted the economy. He said the government is making incremental changes and has tackled policy paralysis.
On criticism of demonetisation, he said the Prime Minister has a very strong agenda on creating a new normal as far as India shadow economy is concerned.
He said, the Centre gave opportunity to people to come clean about their accounts held abroad. Jaitley said, ensuring benefits percolate to the poor has been basic tenor of this government in last 3 years.
Taking a jibe at Yashwant Sinha,Jaitley said he does not have luxury of being ex-Finance Minister who has turned columnist and therefore it is easy to forget a policy paralysis, 4 billion reserve left in 1991 and can switch over and change a narrative.
