J&K Govt. Bars Separatist Leaders To Hold Public Rally In Valley

Jammu & Kashmir authorities Friday disallowed separatist leaders to hold public rallies across Kashmir in order to maintain law and order across Kashmir valley.

Police have put Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest since late last night.Mirwaiz was scheduled to lead a rally at Bijbehara, Anantnag in south Kashmir today.

JKLF Chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik was detained at Parimpora Road on Srinagar Baramulla Highway, who was on way to address public rally in Baramulla in North Kashmir. He was later released by the police.

National Front chairman, Nayeem Ahmad Khan was also put under house arrest last night. Khan was scheduled to address a rally at Safapora in North Kashmir.

Democratic Freedom Party Chairman Shabir Shah reached Shopian in South Kashmir and addressed a crowded public rally outside Jamia Masjid Shopian.

Sources said that a police party had reached Freedom Party chairman, Shabir Shah’s residence to put him under house arrest however, by then he had left during night.

Pertinently, Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani is under house detention at his Hyderpora residence since May 5 after Tral rally in which Pak flags were waved by the participants.
