Karnataka to abide by SC order to release 2000 cusecs of water: Jayachandra

In Karnataka, Law and Parliamentary Affairs minister T B Jayachandra has informed that state will abide by the Supreme Court order to release 2000 cusecs of water every day.

Speaking to media persons in Bengaluru Wednesday, he said that Tribunal had asked the state to release 192 TMC feet of water to Tamilnadu in a given year, which includes the quantum of water received in the catchment area calculable at Biligundlu near Karnataka border.

He said the senior Counsel for the state Fali S Nariman has affectively argued the case in defense of the state and hoped that further hearing of the case on Monday will bring relief to the state facing acute shortage of drinking water.
