BJP’s Marg Darshak Mandal Thursday held its crucial meeting at the residence of party veteran Murali Manohar Joshi, a day after party MP Kirti Azad was suspended for raising his voice against Finance Minister Arun Jaitley over the alleged irregularities in DDCA.
This is for the second time in the last two months that the Party veterans huddled in a meeting to take stock of the situation within the party.
The meeting held at the residence of Joshi was attended by Party Patriarch L K Advani among others.
The first time the BJP elders had met immediately after humiliating defeat of the Party in the Bihar Assembly polls.
Party leaders Yashwant Sinha and Shanta Kumar were also present in the meeting.
Meanwhile, the suspended party MP said in Ahmedabad that there was nothing specific in the suspension notice as to what anti-party activities he was indulging in and where he went wrong.
He urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene and tell him what wrong he did.
He said that as a cricketer he had been raising the issue of corruption in DDCA and never brought it on the party platform as it was limited to a cricket body. He said, “If DDCA is party affair why the BCCI issue should not be brought on party forum.”
Azad said that he will respond to the suspension notice by this evening. He said he would be filing a PIL on the matter.
Talking about his meeting with Party president Amit Shah last week, he said,” I told him that I was holding back by my press conference till Sunday and I offered that the two parties (he and Jaitley) be made to sit across.”
