Kolkata Flyover: EC permits W Bengal govt to employ one family member of victims

The Election Commission has permitted the West Bengal government to employ one family member of each of the deceased who lost their life in the flyover accident in Kolkata on Thursday.

State Addl. CEO informed media-persons this evening that a request to this effect received from the state chief secretary was forwarded to the Commission leading to the permission.

The death toll in the tragic accident on Saturday mounted to 27 with recovery of two more bodies.

Three of the dead are yet to be identified.

The rescue teams, having cleared one road of the Ganesh Talkies crossing, the accident site, opened the Rabindra Sarani for traffic and public on Saturday.

The Vibekananda-KK Tagore Street flank, along which the flyover was being mounted, will take time to be freed of debris and the dangerously hanging parts of the bridge.

A city court today ordered nine days Police custody to the three arrested officers of the flyover construction company, IVRCL.
