Former IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi is all set to get back at the helm of Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA). This follows the withdrawal of no-confidence motion by rival faction’s Amin Pathan against Modi and his team which gave the former IPL Commissioner a numerical superiority in the 33-member RCA. BJP leader Amin Pathan is the Vice President of RCA.
Justice Gyan Sudha Mishra, appointed by the Rajasthan High Court to look into the matter, met the officials of the district cricket associations in Jaipur yesterday, and said, the 15 districts had decided to withdraw the No-Confidence Motion in the interest of the game.
Briefing media, Justice Mishra said, the Lalit Modi faction was elected through proper election and since the no-confidence motion has been withdrawn, status quo is in place.
Former BCCI Chief Sharad Pawar has also come out in support of Lalit Modi. Talking to a news channel, he said, the credit for IPL’s success should go to Lalit Modi, and he should not be harassed.
Lalit Modi was suspended by the BCCI in 2013 for financial irregularities. He was elected as RCA President despite warnings by BCCI. RCA was, later, suspended and left out of the domestic cricket calendar.
