India’s ace shuttlers P V Sindhu and Saina Nehwal crashed out of the 1st round of the Malaysia Open Super Series here today in their respective singles event.
Rio silver medallist Sindhu was thrashed by unseeded Chinese Chen Yufei 18-21 21-19 21-17 in the women’s singles event finishing the game in one hour and eight minutes.
Earlier, the sixth seeded Sindhu had won here maiden Indian Open title against Carolina Marin of Spain last Sunday.
Meanwhile, London Olympic bronze medallist Saina also suffered defeat at hands of Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi, seeded fourth, 19-21 21-13 21-15 that lasted 56 minutes.
However, Ajay Jayaram won against Chinese Qiao Bin in straight sets 21-11 21-8, taking just 31 minutes finishing the game in the men’s singles opening round match.
In men’s doubles pair of Manu Attri and Sumeeth Reddy lost to Chinese Taipei’s Liao Kuan Hao and Lu Chia Pin 18-21 21-18 21-17.
