Man rescued from the divider of Tiger Enclosures by Nandankanan Zoo staff

The Nandankanan Zoo officials Friday overpowered one youth who was seen walking on the divider plate laid between two Tiger enclosures of the Zoo.

The man identified as Prakash Pani of Balikuda was first noticed by the visitors who alerted the Nandankanan Staff apprehending that the man perhaps attempting to commit suicide by jumping into the Tiger enclosure.

The Nandankanan staff immediately swung into action and captured the man, interrogated him and later handed over to the Nandankanan Police station.

Zoo Deputy Director Jayant Das said the incident happened around 1615 hours and the man was seen scaling on the divider between the two enclosure and was walking on the plate of the divider being laid to prevent the escape of the tiger from one enclosure to another.

He said the preliminary inquiry by the Nandankanan staff and the police revealed that he was not attempting to commit suicide but to draw the attention of his plight of being an unemployment.

He had not approached the Tiger enclosure form the Visitors side which would have been more dangerous for him if by any chance he slipped and fell into the Tiger enclosure. The man was doing part time electrical work and was unemployed for long time.
