India cricketer Mohammed Shami was injured in a road accident on Sunday while travelling from Dehradun to New Delhi. According to police sources, the incident took place at 6:30 AM, when Shami was travelling to Delhi with Umesh Jay Kumar. His car collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction near the Asharody police barrier. Shami, Umesh Kumar and the car driver were all injured in the accident.
All the three injured were admitted to a private hospital in Dehradun, where Shami got 10 stitches. After the treatment, he left for Delhi.
Later, police arrested Khalil Ahmed, the truck driver hailing from Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh.
Shami had reached Dehradun on Friday. He stayed here at the house of Umesh Jayakumar in front of Max Hospital in Rajpur.
After practicing for two days with children at Abhimanyu Academy in Dehradun, this morning, Shami alongwith Jayakumar left for Delhi.
