Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today directed all departments to remain alert to counter possible flood situation in the state.
Presiding over a meeting convened here to review the flood situation, Patnaik directed the officials to deploy adequate mobile patrolling teams for identification and safety of the river embankments and to evacuate people living in low lying areas to safer places.
The chief minister also directed ODRAF, NDRF and Fire Brigade to get ready for undertaking rescue and relief operation and to keep adequate boats, relief materials and other essential equipment ready.
The meeting was told that 12 blocks in three districtskeonjhar, Bhadrak and Jajpur are likely to be affected by flood due to incessant rain during the last two days in some places.Official sources here said four ODRAF teams, 73 boats were kept ready to meet any eventuality in these three districts.bm
