Planetarium named after former President Dr A P J Abdul Kalam and second after the Pathani Samant Planetarium in Bhubaneswar, was today inaugurated at Burla by Chief Minister Naveen Pattnaik. Mr Patnaik in a hectic and whirlwind tour this Western part of Odisha Friday inaugurated several projects and laid foundation of some projects.
He also inaugurated the Science Park inside the Planetarium complex in presence of thousands of people. With the inauguration of the planetarium, not only the people of Sambalpur, Burla and Hirakud, but also the people of the entire western region will have the rare opportunity to witness the happenings in the galaxy.
The chief minister also inaugurated the renovated Dr Jhasaketan Sahu swimming pool here, and a hostel building at VSSIMSAR, flagged off city bus services in the Sambalpur town with a fleet of ten, a bridge and many other important projects.
At the same time he also distributed helping aids to the physically challenged people in the VSSUT premises in Burla.
The chief minister also laid foundation stone for various other works in Sambalpur and Burla and said his government is committed for the all-round development of the state, particularly the Western Odisha which has been neglected for decades.
The police as precautionary measures detained BJP heavy weight and former Minister Jayanarayan Mishra, and 47 other persons who included six Congress activists .
