Navjot Singh Sidhu joins Congress

Navjot Singh Sidhu has joined Indian National Congress after meeting party vice president Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi Sunday.

The former BJP MP’s wife, Navjot Kaur had earlier joined the party.

In a statement, Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala welcomed Sidhu and thanked Rahul Gandhi for bringing like-minded leaders under the party umbrella. Surjewala expressed confidence that party will be immensely strengthened in Punjab and elsewhere with Sidhu’s entry.

The cricketer turned politician is likely to play a crucial role in Punjab which goes to poll on 4th February.
