Swine flu has so far claimed nine lives and affected 155 people in Odisha, Odisha Minister for Health and Family Welfare Pratap Jena said here Wednesday.
After reviewing the swine flu situation in the state, Jena said, out of 460 samples tested as many as 155 were found positive till today. Out of 50 people have been cured after treatment. The Minister appealed to the people not to be panicked.
He said adequate quantity of medicine for the treatment of swine flu is available and arrangements have been made in all the three medical college hospitals, Capital hospital and in all the District Head quarter hospitals for the treatment of swine flu. He said the health department has kept a strict vigil on the situation.The government is also providing medicines to the swine flu affected patients and their family members free of cost. In addition to it a massive public awareness campaign is also launched to educate the people about the disease, he said.
