Nitish asks PM to share how much black money unearthed after demonetisation

24 January, Patna

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar Tuesday asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to divulge before the public on the amount of black money unearthed post the demonetisation move.

Kumar, while addressing a function organised to mark the birth anniversary of former Chief Minister Karpoori Thakur, said the mega drive of demonetisation was launched to unearth black money and people of the country are still unaware of its outcome.

“PM should share with the people how much black money was unearthed after demonetisation,” the chief minister said, adding that nominal percentage of the black money was in form of cash while the huge chunk was staked in gold, gems and real estate.

Kumar said that the economy had suffered slow down after demonetisation and provision should be made in the budget to provide relief to the affected sectors and people associated withthem.

The chief minister demanded from the Centre to take steps for exposing the benami property and only then, it would be construed that the government was sincere in its action against the black money.

The demand was raised earlier as well by him but no action was visible on this front, he pointed out.
