24 July, Bhubaneswar
The Odisha State Pollution Control Board has served closure notices on 10 hotels in Puri as they do not have their own water treatment plant.
The notice was issued as per the directive of the National Green Tribunal. There were allegations that these hotels are discharging the waste water into the sea.
Earlier, the hotel owners moved the Orissa High Court after closure notices were served to them and obtained a stay order in the matter.
After the completion of the stay period on Friday, the pollution control watchdog served fresh closure notices to the hotels.
Official sources said, action will be taken within two days. Meanwhile, the Puri district administration has said it will provide all support to the pollution control board.BM
