Over one crore of children have been vaccinated the Measles-Rubela vaccination in Odisha since the vaccination campaign launched on January 29 last.
Director of Health B K Brahma told newspersons here on Tuesday that as many as 1,01,73,545 children have been vaccinated in 70,367 schools.
He said the ASHAs, Anganwadi workers, School teachers, Health workers and Officials of School and Mass Education, Women and Child Development, ST/SC, Panchayatiraj and Housing and Urban Development department have played a major role in achieving the target.
A decision was taken to carry out the vaccination campaign in school, community and to finally conduct a mop up campaign to ensure that not a single child is left out.
Mr Brahma said the school level campaign was completed on February 17 and the community level campaign which commenced on February 19 will continue up to March 16 next. Then the mop up campaign would be held for eight days.
All districts have re planned and conducting mop up drive to vaccinate school children who were not vaccinated during the school campaign.
Mr Brahma said due to MR vaccination campaign, the pulse polio drive has been rescheduled. The first round of the pulse polio would be held from April 15 to 17 and the second round from May 20 to 22, he said.BM
