Rahul Gandhi Undertakes Samvad Padayatra In Vidarbha Region Highlighting Farmers’ Woes

30 April, Amravati
Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi Thursday has undertaken a 15-kilometre day-long Samvad Padyatra in Amravati Division of Vidarbha region in Maharashtra with a view to highlight the farmers’ woes

State Unit Chief Mr. Ashok Chavan and Leader of Opposition in Legislative Assembly along with other prominent leaders also accompanied him on the Padyatra.

The day-long Samvad Padyatra of Rahul Gandhi seems to have charged the party workers in the region. Maharashtra is one of the states that experienced severe agrarian crisis and the Amravati Division in Vidharabha region has witnessed large number of farmers’ suicides this year. As per the unconfirmed figures, over 250 farmers have taken the extreme step during the last four months in this division.

Gandhi started the foot march from Gunji village and reached Shahapur village in Dhamangaon Railway taluka during the first leg of the padyatra. He interacted with the affected farmers and families of those who committed suicide and discussed the agrarian crisis with them and also on the remedial measures required to be adopted to contain the problem during the brief stoppages on his way.

The Congress Vice President is now moving towards Rajhna and Tonglabad in Chandur Railway taluka where the march would conclude and he would then return to the national capital via Nagpur. Congress- NCP combine ruled Maharashtra for 15 years before the Fadnavis government came into power just six months back.
