Railways Changes Refund Rules To Help Genuine Passengers

Railways has doubled the ticket cancellation charges, changing the refund rules to help genuine passengers get confirmed tickets. Under the new rules, there will be no refund after the departure of train. Now, the passenger will have to get the refund four hours before the departure.

The revised refund rules will be effective from Thursday. Under the new rules, cancellation fee of second-class unreserved ticket will be increased from 15 to 30 rupees and second class reserved from 30 to 60 rupees.

Cancellation charge 48 hours before the scheduled departure of the train in Second sleeper has been increased from 60 to 120 rupees, third AC from 90 to 180 rupees, 2nd AC from 100 to 200 rupees and 1st AC from 120 to 240 rupees.

For waitlisted and RAC tickets, one has to avail the refund up to half an hour before the scheduled departure of the train and thereafter will be no refund.

Now, beyond the working hours Railways have decided to enable certain UTS counter as UTS cum PRS counter and allow refund of PRS counter ticket across these counters
