The Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate of Police arrested six persons including two engineering students Friday on charges of kidnapping a student of a city-based private engineering college. Police seized a car, two motor cycles and four mobile phones from their possessions.
Commissionerate of Police sources here said a complaint was lodged by one Kunal Goswami with the Khandagiri Police station that some unidentified persons have kidnapped his younger brother Anuj Jha from Jagmara mid night last night and demanding Rs 10 lakh for his release.
Acting on the complaint a team of the Commissionerate Police acted swiftly and intercepted the car of the accused near Phulnakhara while they were heading towards Bhubaneswar and arrested the accused in the wee hours today.
Police identified the accused as Dev Arpit Mishra (22), Priya Ranjan Mallik alias Bapu (29), Jyoti Prakash Mohanty alias Guddu (25), Chandan Dakua alias Kalia (25), Girish Naidu alias Bablu (22) and Abhimanyu Das alias Niranjan (42). Dev Arpit and Jyoti Parakash are B Tech final year students of a private Engineering College here, Police said.
