The inclement weather condition brought mixed effect on the normal life in the state today as major tourists destinations got snowfall attracting number of tourists while coldwave, disrupt roads and communications network.
The Met office said that tourist resort Manali got six centimeter snowfall for the first time in this season. Dalhousie, Kufri, Narkanda and Fagu also got snowfall. Tourists were keen to rush toward these hill stations before thawing of snowfall lapped the valley and hills in white carpets.
District headquarter of Lahaul Spiti, Keylong received fresh snowfall of 10 cm in last 24 hrs till 0830 hrs Kalpa of Kinnuar seven and Bharmaur of Chamba five centimeter respectively.
High reaches of Lahaul Spiti, Kinnuar, Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Shimla and Sirmour reported heavy snowfall. The gateway to Lahaul Spiti district, 13050 ft high Rohtang Pass had three to four feet snowfall simillarly Kunzum(14000ft) pass also called gateway to Spiti valley became snowbound snapping road link to Kaza block headquarter .
In Shimla distirct Khiraki and Kharapathar are under half feet snow disrupting vehicular traffic to Chopal and Rohru partly. High reaches could have more rainfall and snowfall in next 24 hrs, according to Met office.
This capital town was coldest in this winter season recording low at three degrees. Mercury plunged to minus 2.6 degrees in Kalpa minus 1.6 degrees at Manali and minus 1.1 degree at Keylong.
Seobagh in Kullu was low at two degrees, Una four degrees, Bhunter 5.4 degrees, Sunderngar, Kangra and Mandi seven degrees each , Solan six degrees Nahan 9.7 degrees.
The mercury would fall in next 24 hrs as it would be mainly dry in the mid and foot hills and rain and snowfall in high reaches, Met office added.
