Attacking Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor Arvind Kejriwal over selection of candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections, former party leader Yogendra Yadav on Wednesday said he was speechless, ashamed and numb on the decision of nominating former Congressman Sushil Gupta, Chartered Accountant ND Gupta and senior party leader Sanjay Singh.
“I used to say, whatever his other faults Arvind Kejriwal cannot be bought. Defended him against Kapil Mishra’s allegations. Now I don’t know what to say. Speechless, ashamed and numb,” Yadav tweeted.
Another former party leader Prashant Bhushan said AAP has given tickets to people who have not distinguished themselves in public service and have no expertise in anything to qualify for the Rajya Sabha. “The voices of volunteers were ignored,” he stated.
Earlier, senior party leader and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia announced the names at a press conference here after the party’s Political Affairs Commitee (PAC) meeting.
The last date of filing nominations is January 5, while scrutiny of papers will be held the next day. The last date for the withdrawal of candidature is January 8.
The AAP, which enjoys a brute majority of 66 seats in the 70-member Delhi Assembly, is all set to win all the three seats
