Internationally renowned sand artistSudarsan Pattnaik from Odisha has won jury prize gold medal at 10thMoscow Sand art sculpture championship.
The championship was held from April 22 to 28 at Kolomenskoye,Moscow in Russia. Mr Pattnaik was awarded in a ceremony by Pavel Menikov, thechief organizer of the event. Twenty-five sculptors from different countries across the World participated in this championship. The theme of the competition was the “World around us”.
Pattnaik created a 10-ft high sand sculpture of Lord Ganesha with the message of “Go Green”. “This year the slogan of Russian is ‘Go Green’, so I chose this asthe theme of my sculpture,” Patnaik said.
Recently, he has created world’s tallest sand castle at Puri beachwhich was placed in Guinness Book of World Records. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Union Minister for Petroleumand Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan congratulated Sudarshan for winning the gold medal at the Moscow championship.
Patnaik tweeted, “Congratulate @Sudarsan sand for gold at worldsculpture championship in Moscow. You indeed make #odisha proud.”
The Union Minister in his tweet said, “Congratulations @Sudarshansand”. You have made Odisha and India proud. Your efforts to have put#sand art of Odisha and Odia identity on global map.”
